Sisterhood
Mission Statement
Sisterhood is an organization of women who are members of Ahavath Achim, Colchester. Our mission is, in the spirit of Tikun Olam, to encourage the building and maintaining of a spiritually, socially, and financially healthy Synagogue community by bonding together and undertaking specific projects which enhance and enrich the lives of the congregants both inside and outside of the Shul.
Recipe Book
Cookbook Order Form Please consider ordering a cookbook for yourself, a friend, or family member. Sisterhood needs to sell 60 books before we can go to print. We are on our way – we’ve pre-sold about 17. This, and other fund-raiser, are critical to provide the financial support for Sisterhood programming. Fund-raisers like our recipe book allow Sisterhood to host synagogue lunches, like the one that will follow our summer Shabbat on June 7, 2008. Without funding, we can’t provide the programming that you – our members want. So, help us help you! ONLY $10 PER BOOK. Checks should be made payable to: Ahavath Achim Sisterhood. If you have any questions, please contact Sisterhood Vice President Michelle Kelly: mkellycm@comcast.net. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS
Project A Success!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!! – Volunteers to run the High Holiday and Child Care Program
Last year Sisterhood was pleased to unveil a High Holiday and Child Care program. The program ran for the two days of Rosh Hashanah and one day of Yom Kippur. It provided sitting services for families of children ages 2 to 8 years. Two programs ran simultaneously – one for children ages 2 to 4 and one for the five to eight year old. Each classroom was staffed with two child care professionals and the mornings were filled with stories, games, free play, art projects and snack. Sisterhood would like to be able to provide this service again. However, at present we do not have a volunteer team in place to make that happen. If you are interested in making sure that our congregation is able to offer this highly desirable service, you are encouraged to volunteer. If you are not a member of Sisterhood that can easily be rectified! This is the perfect opportunity for you to get involved. If you have any questions, please e-mail Sisterhood at: ahavathachimsisterhood@hotmail.com.
